Passive charge state control of nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond using phosphorous and boron doping

The control and stabilisation of the charge state of nitrogen‐vacancy centres in diamond is an important issue for the achievement of reliable processing of spin‐based quantum information. The effect of phosphorous and boron doping of diamond on the…

Main-Chain Oligomers from NiII- and CuII-Centered Unsymmetrical N2O2 Schiff-Base Complexes: Synthesis and Spectral, Structural, and Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties

Oligomeric main-chain Schiff-base compounds 4 and 5 have been synthesized by the trans-esterification of their respective doubly functionalized monomeric precursors [M{(η5-C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H4)C(=O)CH=C(4-C6H4OH)NCH2CH2N=CH-(2-O,4-CO2H–C6H3)}] [M = Ni (2…

Quantized Thermal Conductance of Nanowires at Room Temperature Due to Zenneck Surface-Phonon Polaritons

Based on the Landauer formalism, we demonstrate that the thermal conductance due to the propagation of Zenneck surface-phonon polaritons along a polar nanowire is independent of the material characteristics and is given by π 2 k 2 B T=3h. The giant…

Electronic properties of 2D and 3D hybrid organic/inorganic perovskites for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications

We herein investigate theoretically both 2D and 3D Hybrid Organic/inorganic Perovskite (HOP) crystal structures based on Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and symmetry analyses. Our findings reveal the universal features of the electronic…

Thermal conductivity of nano-layered systems due to surface phonon-polaritons

The effective thermal conductivity of a layered system due to the propagation of surface phonon-polaritons is studied. We analytically demonstrate that the thermal conductivity of a set of nanolayers can be described as one of a single layer with an…

Universal non-resonant absorption in carbon nanotubes

Photoluminescence excitation measurements in semi-conducting carbon nanotubes show a systematic non-resonant contribution between the well known excitonic resonances. Using a global analysis method, we were able to delineate the contribution of each…

Effects of anisotropy and size of polar nano thin films on their thermal conductivity due to surface phonon-polaritons

The effects of the permittivity anisotropy and size of a nano thin film on its thermal conductivity due to surface phonon-polaritons are studied. We demonstrate that this thermal conductivity is a linear combination of the inverse first and third…

Confinement in single walled carbon nanotubes investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometry

Thick films of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with different diameter and chirality distributions are characterized by combining transmission electron microscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. The dependence of the dielectric function with…

Unifying the low-temperature photoluminescence spectra of carbon nanotubes: the role of acoustic phonon confinement.

At low temperature the photoluminescence of single-wall carbon nanotubes show a large variety of spectral profiles ranging from ultra narrow lines in suspended nanotubes to broad and asymmetrical line-shapes that puzzle the current interpretation in…
