Native and induced triplet nitrogen-vacancy centers in nano- and micro-diamonds: Half-field electron paramagnetic resonance fingerprint

Multiple frequency electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of small (4-25 nm) nanodiamonds obtained by various dynamic synthesis techniques reveals systematic presence in the half-field (HF) region a distinctive doublet fingerprint consisting of…

Fresnel-like formulas for the reflection and transmission of surface phonon-polaritons at a dielectric interface

The reflection and transmission coefficients of a surface phonon-polariton propagating along the surface of a thin film of SiO 2 and crossing the interface of two dielectric media are analytically determined. Based on the expansion of the electrical…

Phase Noise of the Radio Frequency (RF) Beatnote Generated by a Dual-Frequency VECSEL

We analyze, both theoretically and experimentally, the phase noise of the radio frequency (RF) beatnote generated by optical mixing of two orthogonally polarized modes in an optically pumped dual-frequency Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting…

Passive charge state control of nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond using phosphorous and boron doping

The control and stabilisation of the charge state of nitrogen‐vacancy centres in diamond is an important issue for the achievement of reliable processing of spin‐based quantum information. The effect of phosphorous and boron doping of diamond on the…

Main-Chain Oligomers from NiII- and CuII-Centered Unsymmetrical N2O2 Schiff-Base Complexes: Synthesis and Spectral, Structural, and Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties

Oligomeric main-chain Schiff-base compounds 4 and 5 have been synthesized by the trans-esterification of their respective doubly functionalized monomeric precursors [M{(η5-C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H4)C(=O)CH=C(4-C6H4OH)NCH2CH2N=CH-(2-O,4-CO2H–C6H3)}] [M = Ni (2…

Quantized Thermal Conductance of Nanowires at Room Temperature Due to Zenneck Surface-Phonon Polaritons

Based on the Landauer formalism, we demonstrate that the thermal conductance due to the propagation of Zenneck surface-phonon polaritons along a polar nanowire is independent of the material characteristics and is given by π 2 k 2 B T=3h. The giant…

Electronic properties of 2D and 3D hybrid organic/inorganic perovskites for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications

We herein investigate theoretically both 2D and 3D Hybrid Organic/inorganic Perovskite (HOP) crystal structures based on Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and symmetry analyses. Our findings reveal the universal features of the electronic…

Thermal conductivity of nano-layered systems due to surface phonon-polaritons

The effective thermal conductivity of a layered system due to the propagation of surface phonon-polaritons is studied. We analytically demonstrate that the thermal conductivity of a set of nanolayers can be described as one of a single layer with an…
