Using chiral ammonium cations to modulate the structure of 1D hybrid lead bromide perovskites for linearly polarized broadband light emission at room temperature

Low dimensional 1D enantiomerically pure and racemic lead bromide perovskite compounds have been structurally characterized. All compounds show broadband below-bandgap emission. They exhibit a significant degree of linear polarization at RT.

Comparative analysis of recirculating and collimating cesium ovens

We have performed a study of several cesium oven designs. A comparison between recirculating (or sticking-wall) and collimating (or re-emitting-wall) ovens is made in order to extract the most efficient design in terms of beam brightness…

Research Campaign: Macroscopic Quantum Resonators (MAQRO)

The objective of the proposed MAQRO mission is to harness space for achieving long free-fall times, extreme vacuum, nano-gravity, and cryogenic temperatures to test the foundations of physics in macroscopic quantum experiments. This will result in…

Thermometry of an optically levitated nanodiamond

Using the spin properties of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in levitated diamonds, we characterize the absorption of single nanodiamonds. We first calibrate the thermometry response of the NV centers embedded in our nanodiamonds. Then, using this…

Impact of Photonic Bandgap Hollow-Core Fiber Loss Wavelength Dependence on the Performance of RFOG

A resonant fiber ring cavity based on a photonicbandgap hollow-core fiber is described and characterized. We explore the fine spectral dependence of the transmission losses of this cavity and their impact on the performances of the resulting…

Coating gold nanorods with silica prevents the generation of reactive oxygen species under laser light irradiation for safe biomedical applications

Gold nanoparticles can produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) under the action of ultrashort pulsed light. While beneficial for photodynamic therapy, this phenomenon is prohibitive for other biomedical applications such as imaging, photo-thermal drug…
